CARE TIPS FOR YOUR SWISS ARMY KNIFE

The stainless steel construction of the SwissChamp is tempered, annealed, and polished to achieve the necessary hardness and provide optimum resistance to corrosion. To re-sharpen the knife, use a whetstone at an angle of 15°– 20°, resulting in a cutting angle of 30°– 40°. If sharpening on a grinding wheel, always cool with plenty of water to avoid excessive temperatures and potential damage. If the blades begin to stick, open and close them in warm water several times, then apply a drop of Swiss Army Knife Oil between each tool and its spring. Avoid placing Swiss Army Knives in the dishwasher.

HISTORY & HERITAGE

The SwissChamp's legacy dates back to 1884, when Master Cutler Karl Elsener opened a cutlery shop in Ibach, Switzerland. Elsener and his cutlers' union produced the finest steel cutlery, including the standard-issue Soldier's Knife and Officer's Knife for the Swiss Army. After the advent of stainless steel and Elsener's mother's passing, the company was renamed Victorinox. Today, Victorinox remains owned and operated by the Elsener family, still based in the small village of Ibach, Switzerland.
